Free Ride Ending in Prospect Park

Cops are going to start enforcing traffic regulations for cyclists in Prospect Park, according to Patch: “Summonses will be issued to any biker who is driving the wrong way, speeding, riding outside of the bike lane and or driving in a way that is dangerous to others.” The increased enforcement will start after this weekend, when the NYPD will hand out fliers detailing the rules of the road to cyclists. The move follows recent bike-pedestrian accidents in the park. (via Brownstoner)

From Gehry to Pre-Fab!

Developer Bruce Ratner will build the world’s tallest pre-fabricated tower as the first residential building inside his Atlantic Yards mega-project, dealing a blow to labor unions and architecture enthusiasts — whose original support for the development was conditioned on job creation and the promise of a mini city built by starchitect Frank Gehry.

Renderings released on Thursday by SHoP Architects reveal a 32-story building rising at the corner of Dean Street and Flatbush Avenue, just south of the under-construction Barclays Center. (read more at The Brooklyn Paper)

So Sad: Park Slope Institution Aunt Suzie's To Close

After 25 years in business, the homey red sauce Italian restaurant Aunt Suzie’s is going to the great cannoli in the sky. The owner, Irene LoRe, posted an open letter on Park Slope’s Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District website announcing her decision to call it quits on January 1st. LoRe, who is also the executive director of the Fifth Avenue BID, opened Aunt Suzie’s when Fifth Avenue was a very different (i.e. seedy) scene, and the closure marks the end of an era. Meet Littleneck, Brooklyn's New New England-style Clam Shack!

Last night a New England-style clam shack opened in Brooklyn. Say hello to Littleneck everybody! The joint isn’t that big, but it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect of a clam shack in Gowanus with chef Alan Harding (Gowanus Yacht Club, The Farm on Adderley, Chopped!) working the kitchen. Raw bar? Check. Lobster rolls? Check. Whole belly Ipswich clam rolls? You better believe it. (via Gothamist)
