DOH! Di Fara Shuttered by the DOH!
Perpetual “best-of” list-topper and cultishly loved Midwood institution Di Fara pizzeria has been shuttered after racking up a not-so-delicious 67 violation points by the Department of Health. Even so, something tells us this little setback won’t do much to shorten the equally-legendary wait time once the shop opens back up.

Writer Jeryl Brunner asked hundreds of well-known New Yorkers to dish on their favorite places for her book, “My City, My New York: Famous New Yorkers Share Their Favorite Places.”
When she quizzed “Sex and the City” designer Patricia Field about her favorite spot in New York City, she assumed it would be a trendy nightclub or stylish eatery in the East Village.
Not so.
The flamboyant costumer picked the downtown Pathmark supermarket off the FDR Drive.
“She loves it because she can park her car there, just like she could if she lived in the suburbs,” says Brunner. “And, since it’s in a diverse neighborhood, it sells lots of different types of ethnic foods.” (read more at NY Daily News)
