Developer Bruce Ratner will build the world’s tallest pre-fabricated tower as the first residential building inside his Atlantic Yards mega-project, dealing a blow to labor unions and architecture enthusiasts — whose original support for the development was conditioned on job creation and the promise of a mini city built by starchitect Frank Gehry.
Renderings released on Thursday by SHoP Architects reveal a 32-story building rising at the corner of Dean Street and Flatbush Avenue, just south of the under-construction Barclays Center. (read more at The Brooklyn Paper)

Canstruction is an extraordinary annual design competition and the most unique food charity in the world. In over 100 cities around the globe, teams of top architecture and engineering professionals participate in contests to create enormous structures built entirely from full cans of food. Now in its 19th year in New York City, over 20 entries vie for awards in categories including Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, and Structural Ingenuity. In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, these sculptural works are on view throughout the World Financial Center and then dismantled and donated to City Harvest for distribution to those in need. Joining in the effort this year is Move For Hunger. Together we ask you to join us in the fight against hunger.
